“You don’t take a photograph, you make it” – Ansel Adams.
In photography, I’m not trying to just simply snap a picture. I’m trying to embody a physical, mental, and emotional feeling. My reach is to capture a movement, a moment, an instance where anyone can relate and/or feel the expression from the subject. To see the beauty in an image is to really be involved in its succession. And I’m always learning to really grasp the knowledge to know how to pose the model, position my camera, use light and shadows and all the surroundings to really put together a spectacular vision.
My name is Fausto A Olivo, originally born in Spain, but lived my life as a New Yorker in Far Rockaway. Growing up, I always had a passion for life and anything that would enlighten it. I joined the military at 18 years old and continuously pushed myself to become a person that my family, friends and I could be proud of. I was lucky enough to travel to many different places, with some of the coldest temperatures to others that were so vibrant, warm and beautiful. I enjoyed exploring the marketplaces, structures, monuments, and landscapes. I’ve always love to experience the different cultures, people, foods, anything aside from what I was used to. I’m a bit of a dare devil and always looking for an adventure, from soaring through the sky with a parachute attached to exploring the depths of the ocean.
My cameras would come with me wherever I went and they still do. I always try to make time to further a growing fire for photography. It started as a hobby but didn’t take too long to progress into an interest beyond that. I read to stay informed and practice technique whenever I can. I enjoy learning the process of everything is involved in creating an image, from equipment setup to prepping a model with makeup and wardrobe, before it’s time for me to even take the shot. Anything that can be taught, I would gladly learn.
I’ve been working with clients interested in a variety of genres, from portraits to boudoir to fashion but not halting there. I enjoy knowing that something that I’m able to capture can bring a smile to my clients’ face, ultimately making them glow with a greater appreciation of themselves. My goal is too always achieve that with anyone that I work with.
Photography to me is limitless. And I really look forward to exploring many more genres and experiencing the joy in capturing moments that will be treasured by those who view them.
